Meditation

Meditation helps you focus your attention inward, inducing a deep state of relaxation. Jon Kabat-Zinn defines mindfulness as “the awareness that arises through paying attention on purpose in the present moment – non-judgmentally.” Anyone can engage in meditation; it promotes perspective by allowing for individualization. Meditation works via the sympathetic nervous system, which increases heart rate, breathing, and blood during stressful times. We can’t see or touch stress, but we can feel our heart rate and breathing increase.
